Iheanacho reveals reason behind Super Eagles return

Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles' forward, has disclosed the primary motivation behind his return to the national team. The player reconfirmed his steadfast commitment to the Super Eagles after being recalled for an upcoming friendly against Russia. Iheanacho, who had been absent from international football for over 16 months before his selection, had been inactive in international competitions for a prolonged period.

The former Manchester City star, a Golden Ball winner at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, insisted that he was not swayed by external factors to represent his country. In an interview with the Super Eagles media department, Iheanacho stated, "My association with the Super Eagles and the national team structure spans a significant duration, starting from the U-13 to U-15, U-17 levels, and eventually to the Super Eagles.

My commitment has been substantial, and my return to the national team is driven solely by an intense love and passion for the sport." Iheanacho emphasized that representing the Super Eagles is the ultimate ambition for every Nigerian athlete, and he has been actively pursuing this aspiration throughout his career. Whether it be five-a-side football or an invitation to the U-15 squad, Iheanacho would participate due to his genuine passion for the game.

He emphasized that he is unaffected by external opinions and that a call-up from the coaching staff is highly satisfying. Iheanacho expressed his pleasure at being part of the team and anticipated an exceptional performance in the upcoming friendly against Russia.
