‘Gas Cylinder Blast’ Panic In Pune: Woman Injured After LPG Regulator Comes Off With Loud Bang

Pimpri-Chinchwad witnessed an unsettling incident on Sunday afternoon when a loud bang emanated from a house in Bhimashankar Colony, Pimple Gurav, causing residents panic. At first, it was thought that a gas cylinder had exploded, but police swiftly clarified that the cylinder had not detonated. Instead, the incident was caused when an LPG regulator reportedly came off while the woman installing it was fitting the cylinder.

The event occurred between 12:15 pm and 12:30 pm at Bajirao Dalvi's residence in Bhimashankar Colony, coming under the jurisdiction of Sangvi Police Station. Suvarna Dalvi, the wife of the resident, was the one experiencing minor injuries during the occurrence. Sangvi Police Station's Senior Inspector Jitendra Koli revealed that Suvarna was in the process of fixing the regulator onto the LPG cylinder when it emerged improperly attached.

Upon Suvarna turning on the gas stove, the regulator reportedly came off with a loud bang, sending kitchen trolleys flying and striking Suvarna, resulting in her minor injuries. The police mentioned that the cylinder remained intact and did not explode. Further probing is underway in the matter. The initial commotion led to the arrival of around five to six fire engines at the scene.

However, the police emphasized that the incident was not a gas explosion but the regulator coming off while the gas connection was being installed. The response from the fire brigade added to the apprehension among residents, as news of a potential gas explosion spread across the locality.
