Elephant Rumblings: AFL Begins; Still Waiting For A GM
MLB news roundup
The Arizona Fall League (AFL) began on October 5, 2026, with the Oakland Athletics participating, giving their prospects a chance to gain additional experience. Among the A’s prospects making their AFL debuts were catcher Davis Diaz and left-handed pitcher Grant Richardson. Diaz, an eighth-round pick from 2024, made an immediate impact with a two-run home run, while Richardson pitched two innings, striking out five batters.
The A’s overall AFL team also had a successful day, with outfielder Breyson Guedez and lefty Tucker Novotny both contributing to the team's 4-3 victory. Despite no general manager (GM) interviews or announcements, the A’s are expected to continue evaluating their options for the upcoming season.
