Dickson won’t betray Obi, Kwankwaso — NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has firmly denied claims that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is secretly collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to damage the party’s presidential hopefuls, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, prior to the 2027 general elections. The NDC categorically stated that the allegations are false and malicious, asserting that Dickson remains committed to the NDC and its presidential ticket.

Osa Director, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, made this assertion in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday in response to what he termed "malicious lies" against the former Bayelsa State governor. Director denied any secret or open agreement between Dickson and the APC, emphasizing that the former governor's political record does not support such an allegation.

He asserted, "Our National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the ruinous and diabolical APC regime." This controversy arises as opposition parties ramp up preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the NDC positioning Obi and Kwankwaso as its candidates against the ruling APC.

The party argued that Dickson might have joined the APC but chose instead to aid in building the NDC alongside other opposition figures aiming to challenge the ruling party. Director emphasized that anyone familiar with Senator Dickson's public service record and in their right mind would not associate him with any clandestine arrangement to undermine his own party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
