Delta varsity Pro-Chancellor Kila rejects ‘fake professor’ label

Professor Anthony Kila has vehemently rejected the label of "fake professor" in a statement responding to a publication dated October 3, 2026. The characterization, according to Kila, is inaccurate, misleading, and damaging to his reputation and professional standing. He clarified to Vanguard that he remains a professor and maintains the academic and professional credentials upon which his professorial title is based.

Kila's statement emphasized that the report was based on an incomplete understanding of his professorship's nature, origin, and institutional basis. He urged that the matter should be assessed using the relevant facts and supporting documentation, offering to provide relevant documents. Kila, who serves as the Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Delta State and the Director of the Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies, objected to the "fake professor" description, stating that it was presented as a factual conclusion with significant implications for his reputation.

He expressed bewilderment at the level of attention directed at him, noting that he neither held nor sought a political office nor was a government official. Kila acknowledged journalism's role in scrutinizing the credentials of individuals in responsible positions but stressed that such scrutiny should be fair and grounded in a proper understanding of the facts.

He also thanked those who contacted him after the publication to express confidence in his academic and professional credentials.
