Durban’s Kingsmead Cricket Ground will host its first ever Cricket Lit Fest on October 7, 2026, featuring legendary South African batsman Barry Richards and celebrated Sri Lankan author Shehan Karunatilaka. This marks the world's inaugural book festival dedicated solely to cricket, offering a unique blend of cricket literature, culture, and history.
The event, hosted by Hollywoodbets, will take place from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, bringing together cricket legends, authors, and fans for a day of panel discussions, book signings, and insightful debates. Richards, known for his elegant and powerful batting style, will join Karunatilaka, who will discuss his critically acclaimed cricket-inspired novel, Chinaman: The Legend of Pradeep Mathew.
The festival also features discussions on potential players for South Africa's 2027 Cricket World Cup, as well as sessions exploring cricket's cultural impact. This historic debut at a venue that hosted the 1939 Timeless Test and South Africa's first post-apartheid Test match against India promises a day of cricket literature like no other.
