Arizona WR Tre Spivey out for season with foot injury

TUCSON, AZ - Tre Spivey, Arizona Wildcats' wide receiver, will miss the entire 2026 season due to a foot injury sustained during Saturday's game against Cincinnati. Coach Brent Brennan announced the news on Monday, stating that Spivey will undergo surgery this week. Injured during the final offensive play of the first half, Spivey returned to the sidelines in the second half wearing a boot on his left foot.

The injury mirrors one sustained by fellow junior Tetairoa McMillan during spring practice 2024. "We were both crying in the X-ray room in the training room at halftime," Brennan said. Spivey, a sophomore, leads the team with 22 receptions, 314 yards, and four touchdowns this season. Before his injury, he had three catches for 36 yards.

The Wildcats also suffered injuries to starting receivers Gio Richardson and Chris Hunter during the same game, with Richardson returning from a two-game absence but exiting after one offensive series. With Spivey, Richardson, and Chris Hunter sidelined, backups Noah Fifita, Isaiah Mizell, RJ Mosley, and Caleb Smith stepped up to catch passes. Spivey is the second UA player to be declared out for the season, following safety Daylen Austin.
