Amazon adds extra savings for Prime members

Amazon is ramping up the benefits for its Prime members during the festive season, offering extra discounts, cashback, and quicker deliveries in an effort to enhance the value of the membership. The Amazon Great Indian Festival kicks off on October 8, with Prime members gaining early access on October 7.

Amazon is emphasizing the additional savings and perks that Prime members receive beyond the regular sale-wide discounts. Prime members will enjoy an extra 5% off on thousands of products labeled as Prime Only Offers. Alternatively, they can accumulate a shopping cart worth ₹2,500 to receive ₹250 back. These offers, Amazon claims, represent its largest collection of supplementary savings for members, potentially offsetting the entire cost of the membership for the average Prime customer.

Speed remains a crucial aspect of the Prime experience. Same-day deliveries have surged 2.4 times year-on-year, making up nearly half of Amazon’s rapid deliveries, up from 29% the previous year. Amazon Now, the company’s rapid delivery service, currently operates in 120 cities and is projected to expand to 300.

Akshay Sahi, vice president of Prime and Customer Fulfilment Experience in India at Amazon, noted that the shift in consumer behavior from planned shopping to more on-demand shopping has been significant. He pointed out that Prime has helped establish the expectation that convenience and value can be delivered together. As Prime membership expands, reaching its anticipated doubling by year-end, the focus is on providing value on a regular basis, not just during major sales events.
