What Tennessee Titans' Jeffery Simmons said about facing Derrick Henry for first time
The Tennessee Titans faced former star running back Derrick Henry for the first time. Here's what they said about tackling him.
On October 4, Derrick Henry delivered a powerful performance, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in a 24-18 victory. Henry's touchdown run was especially notable as he faced his former teammate, Tennessee Titans safety Jeffery Simmons, for the first time since their time together in Tennessee. Henry said the moment was surreal, explaining that he was talking to Simmons throughout the game.
Simmons, who played with Henry for five seasons, commented that Henry's respect for him remained despite their rivalry on the field. During the game, Henry's former Titans teammate Amani Hooker took a direct blow from Henry, leading to a concussion evaluation. Despite the intense matchup, Simmons emphasized Henry's continued relevance in the NFL, highlighting his impressive career stats and status as the NFL's top active running back in several categories.
