Three male students detained over murder of schoolgirl Irene Sofiya

BATU PAHAT, October 4 — In connection with the suspected murder of a 16-year-old Form Four student, police have apprehended three male students aged 16. The body of Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal was discovered at a school in Yong Peng around 5.30pm, leading to the arrest of the suspects several hours later. According to sources, one of the detainees is set to appear before the Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court this morning to receive a remand order, enabling the police to continue their investigation.

All three suspects are reportedly students at the same institution where Irene was enrolled. Authorities speculate that Irene met a violent end before her body was disposed of inside the school hall. The victim was found by her grandmother and a friend who had gone to the school in search of her after she failed to return home. The motive and circumstances surrounding the case remain undisclosed as the police continue their ongoing investigation.
