Russia to intensify strikes on Ukraine

Sweden’s armed forces have unveiled a strategy for deep strikes against Russian territory in the event of an attack, according to Estonian broadcaster ERR on October 3. Colonel Carl Bergqvist, head of the Swedish Air Force’s Air Operations Center, announced that the country would not restrict its military actions to defense alone but would instead target deep inside Russian soil.

The cornerstone of this strategy is the versatile JAS 39 Gripen multirole fighter jet, equipped with Taurus KEPD cruise missiles boasting a range of up to 500 kilometers, specifically designed to neutralize well-guarded ground targets. Sweden might also procure more advanced missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers. The distance between Stockholm and Moscow is approximately 1,200 kilometers.

The plan also emphasizes the scattering of combat aircraft and the use of roads for fighter jet takeoffs and landings. Additionally, Sweden aims to bolster its air defenses and intelligence capabilities through the deployment of satellites and drones. On September 24, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, revealed that the alliance is intensifying intelligence sharing in response to a series of sabotage incidents and other events allegedly linked to Russia.

On the same day, the Danish Defense Ministry’s intelligence service expressed a "small but growing risk" that Russia might launch a limited military offensive against one or more neighboring NATO countries within the next few months. Similar warnings have been issued by intelligence chiefs in the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Sweden, who have also cautioned about Russia escalating sabotage operations in Europe in the coming months.
