Rais Yasin to reclaim Sungai Udang seat for Melaka BN
Melaka BN chief Ab Rauf Yusoh says the incumbent Paya Rumput assemblyman is the best candidate to contest the Sungai Udang seat for the coalition.
Melaka's Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh has announced that Rais Yasin, currently the state executive councillor for Paya Rumput, will contest the Sungai Udang seat in the upcoming Melaka state election. Despite losing the Sungai Udang seat in 2021, BN remains committed to serving its constituents in the area, including attending to military personnel needs.
Rauf highlighted that Rais, who is also the Sungai Udang coordinator for BN, is the most suitable candidate for the upcoming election. The seat is considered a stronghold for Umno-BN. In the 2021 election, Perikatan Nasional's Dr Aleef Yusof won the Sungai Udang seat with a 530-vote majority, while Rais Yasin won the adjacent Paya Rumput seat with a 629-vote majority.
