However, as he reflected on the bigger picture, he now puts Messi ahead, citing his outstanding performances during the most recent two FIFA World Cups and his impressive career spanning nearly two decades. Müller explained that his previous preference for Ronaldo was largely influenced by Bayern Munich's losing streak against Real Madrid during Ronaldo's time with the club. He admitted, "I always lost against Cristiano Ronaldo. He beat our a** with Real Madrid."

In contrast, Müller highlighted Messi's victories with Inter Miami and the Argentine national team, which he found more enjoyable and entertaining.
