‘Major cringe…’ NBA fans have lots to say after Klay Thompson’s 0-point preseason Miami Heat debut
Klay Thompson’s first game with the Miami Heat did not go the way fans in South Beach would have hoped. While Thompson and most of the starters only played 13 minutes in their first preseason game against the Toronto Raptors, the former NBA champion’s performance became a huge talking point.
The Miami Heat's preseason debut with Klay Thompson proved to be a topic of much discussion among NBA fans. Despite Thompson and most of the starters only playing 13 minutes in their first game against the Toronto Raptors, his performance was far from impressive. The former NBA champion failed to score any points, shooting a mere 0-2 from the field, and contributed only two rebounds.
Across social media, fans responded to Thompson's outing with a diverse range of reactions. Some expressed empathy for the situation, while others were frustrated or even mocked his performance. One fan remarked that it was "major cringe" to attack a player with minimal minutes in a preseason game. Another questioned Thompson's shooting accuracy, asking, "He took 2 contested shots?"
However, there were also comments suggesting Thompson may have lost his form, with one user stating, "Once a one-way sharpshooter becomes washed, there is no going back." A fourth fan made a light-hearted reference to the recent Megan Thee Stallion curse, while a fifth suggested they were simply haters for being harsh on Thompson.
Finally, another fan drew parallels to Thompson's career in the 2020s, suggesting this was no surprise after his recovery from a torn ACL and his underwhelming tenure with the Dallas Mavericks. While it is premature to conclude Thompson's tenure with the Miami Heat is over, his first preseason game certainly highlighted some concerns about his form and abilities.
