Kane calls on England to beat big nations ‘consistently’ after Croatia thrashing

Harry Kane has implored England to demonstrate their ability to consistently defeat top-tier nations following their emphatic 7-0 victory over Croatia in the Nations League. This triumph, which marked their second consecutive win after a loss to Spain at Wembley, represents England's largest defeat tally against a team ranked within the top 50 of FIFA's World Rankings, notably Croatia's 13th place.

Kane's plea comes in light of recent criticism regarding England's performance against leading nations. The Three Lions' record in high-stakes matchups has come under scrutiny, prompting Kane to emphasize the team's desire to utilize the Nations League as a proving ground for their mettle against the world's best. "Yes, we spoke about it after the World Cup," Kane remarked to Sky Sports.

"It would have been easy to perhaps dial back during this Nations League and prepare for the Euros. "However, I believe the most significant gap in our squad right now is our performance against top-tier nations. "If we secure a top-two finish in this group, we will face off against the elite teams in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately the final next year, providing invaluable preparation for the upcoming Euros a couple of years down the line.

"From our standpoint, it's not the time to ease up; it's the time to accelerate and showcase not just our prowess but that of the entire European continent. Matches like tonight will undoubtedly demonstrate that." Gary Neville, in a commentary piece, criticized the Premier League for falling prey to Manchester City's recent dominance.
