Brasil is set to hold its most contentious presidential election in its history on Sunday, with incumbent left-wing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva seeking a fourth term at the age of 80. Facing him is right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the 45-year-old son of the ousted former president Jair Bolsonaro, who was convicted of leading a coup attempt.
Bolsonaro has vowed that "Brazil needs a change, Brazil can't take it anymore," while Lula, who voted in a school in São Bernardo do Campo, expressed confidence in the outcome, stating, "We'll see what kind of Brazil the people chose. I'm very confident."
