Budget 2027 expected to dominate Dewan Rakyat proceedings

Pak Saifuddin Abdullah, Member of Parliament from Indera Mahkota, has urged Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek to provide an explanation in the Dewan Rakyat regarding the issue of school safety following the death of another student. Located in Yong Peng, Johor, Malaysia, this is the second student fatality at a school within a week.

Saifuddin, the Deputy President of the Wawasan Organization, expressed his deep sorrow over the report of a female student's death at a school in Yong Peng yesterday and extended condolences to her family. He emphasized that the level of student safety at schools has become increasingly worrying and unacceptable. Saifuddin pleaded with the Minister of Education to give a statement in the Dewan Rakyat immediately after the oral question session, so that the public can receive timely answers.

Earlier, a 16-year-old female student was reported dead at a secondary school in Yong Peng this evening. The 4th-grade student was found dead by her mother after realizing her grandmother had not returned home around 5:30 pm after attending an afternoon class. This is the second student death at a school in the past week. On September 25, a male student in Grade 2 was found unconscious at a boarding school in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan before being confirmed dead in the hospital.

Subsequently, the police detained the main suspect, a 16-year-old male student, from September 26 to October 1. One more suspect was detained from September 28 to October 3.
