Three workers die of suffocation in Ariyalur, police detain house owner

Three construction workers died of suffocation while working on a newly built septic tank in Sendurai, Ariyalur district, authorities said on Friday. The victims, K. Bhaskar, 42, K. Dhinakaran, 60, and K. Ramachandran, 45, were employed by M. Subramanian to construct his house at Vallalar Nagar. On Friday morning, the men entered the septic tank behind the building, fell unconscious one after another, and suffocated to death.

Subramanian informed the police and firefighters, who rescued the workers and transported them to Government Hospital, Sendurai. Police have detained Subramanian under Sections 290 of the Biological Management of Human Remains Act and a case has been registered.
