결정타 엄지성과 특급 배준호…이민성 감독 “지금 선수들 대표팀 발판되길”

Wild Card team Eumjsing (24·Swan City) secured the "Gold Medal" assignment. Immigration Supervisor Im Jin said, "I hope these players become the foundation for Korean football." In the 2026 Asian Games final held at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, Japan, the Korean representative team won against Japan by a score of 1-0, which brought tears of joy to the fans.

Im continued Korea's top three consecutive Asian Games. Eumjsing played as a left winger in the decisive match, intercepting Japan's relentless pursuit in the 16th minute. He also led the defense and won the top honors for goals and assists in the competition. After the game, Eumjsing said, "As the game went into the second half, I was on defense and kept waiting for a chance.

Since the ground condition was not so good, I might have slid on the grass and shot, but I was lucky." Even though Eumjsing's teammate, Elmyunghak (Bastetrol), had a powerful cross, Eumjsing managed to block the shot and score from the top of the net. He emphasized that it was crucial to score or assist rather than focus on the game itself.

Compared to the Korean team, Japan had a squad of 21-year-olds. The players played with all their strength throughout the game. Eumjsing also noted, "Although we had some difficulties with the opponent's tempo and ground conditions at the beginning, the most important thing is to achieve results." Eumjsing and teammate Baek Junho (Stocks City) played in the attacking line, while other key players like Yeongjun (Grasshopper) also contributed significantly.

Eumjsing and Baek Junho, along with Elmyunghak, received the honor of a gold medal, providing a solid foundation for further growth on the European stage. Immigration Supervisor Im expressed, "I cannot comment on Korean football. What I want is that the leaders work harder and players display more determination on the field, and I hope many resources from the Athletes' Team will rise to become the foundation for growing Korean football."
