Red Sox's Superstar Sends Heartfelt Message to Sonny Gray Amid Retirement Rumors
Gray still has a lot left in the tank to give the Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox ace Sonny Gray faced retirement rumors as he approached his 37th birthday in November. The soon-to-retire pitcher had talked about his future in Major League Baseball, leaving many questions unanswered. As he didn't secure the final start of the season against the New York Yankees, the situation was beyond his control.
Garrett Crochet, Gray's teammate, shared his thoughts on the matter. "I still think he's got a lot to give the game, but there's something to be said about going out on your own terms, I suppose," Crochet told MassLive's Chris Cotillo. "Whatever he ultimately decides, that'll be something that as a team, we support him on. But it was a pleasure having him here in Boston."
Gray's remarkable career included three All-Star appearances and a dominant 18-5 record with a 2.72 ERA, while striking out 149 batters in 169 innings.
