Phyna reveals tactics behind Nkechi Blessing knockout

Big Brother Naija Season 7 champion Phyna, also known as Josephina Otabor, shared insights into her strategy that led to her victory over actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing match at the "Chaos in the Ring" event in Lagos. The bout, held on October 1, 2026, marked the first female celebrity boxing event of its kind. During an interview with comedian Egungun, Phyna revealed that she deliberately refrained from engaging Nkechi in a strength-based confrontation, as she noticed the actress was physically larger than herself.

Phyna emphasized that while brute force isn't the only solution, wisdom and logic should be applied instead. She opted to rely on her intellectual approach, steering clear of anger and focusing on strategic thinking. Training for only ten days, Phyna's coach played a crucial role in honing her boxing abilities within such a short timeframe.

Upon observing Nkechi's unconventional boxing stance during the match, Phyna realized her opponent intended to engage in a street-fight style rather than a regular boxing contest. This realization prompted her to adapt her tactics, following her coach's advice to maintain movement throughout the fight. Phyna expressed that she had promised to "run" Nkechi around the ring and "rub" her to the ground, enjoying the experience despite the event ending prematurely.

The BBNaija winner dismissed the idea of a rematch, citing respect for her opponent and her decision not to disrespect her. When asked about potential future fights, Phyna mentioned Wathoni Anyansi and Etinosa Idemudia as celebrities she would like to face, expressing that she might "use them to rub ground." Following her defeat, Nkechi Blessing announced her intention to return to acting, stating that she wasn't a professional boxer.

Phyna's triumph at the event was accompanied by a victory for fellow contestant Carter Efe, who defeated Speed Darlington in another bout.
