The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2, Hammed Ademola, and an Accord aspirant, Adedapo Ojo, have both defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections. Joining them are over 3,000 supporters. Ademola and Ojo cited the political landscape and the perceived lack of viability of their respective parties as reasons for their decision.
The Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, welcomed the defectors, assuring them of equal opportunities within the party and urging them to contribute to the party's success in the upcoming elections. Oyo State APC candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also expressed his joy at the defections and pledged an inclusive administration if elected.
