Max Verstappen, a four-time Formula 1 champion, will be competing in the GT World Challenge Europe Cup season finale at Portimao in Portugal. He hopes to avoid an on-track battle with fellow competitor Valentino Rossi.
Verstappen recently competed in the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, where he secured his first pole position of the season with a time of 1 minute 35.130 seconds. He edged out Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who snatched second place despite struggling with tyre degradation.
Verstappen's teammate Isack Hadjar was third fastest but will start eighth due to a five-place grid penalty. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli moved up to third for Mercedes alongside Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
