Launched on Product Hunt today: an AI-powered I Ching app that explains readings in plain language

DEV just launched BU: I Ching & Daily Fortune, an AI-powered Android app designed to make the ancient Chinese divination practice of I Ching more accessible. The app casts hexagrams in the traditional manner, but instead of presenting results in classical Chinese, it uses artificial intelligence to explain them in plain English. BU: I Ching & Daily Fortune also offers daily fortunes, readings for love and career, insights related to the Chinese zodiac, and a traditional almanac known as tongshu.

The creator of this application, a software product manager, developed it after struggling with the gap between I Ching apps that correctly cast hexagrams but offered explanations in classical Chinese, and AI-powered fortune apps that lacked genuine casting mechanisms. To address this need, the developer aimed to create an app that respects the tradition of I Ching while communicating its messages in a more relatable, human language.

On the day of its launch, the creator is offering free mini-readings to the first 20 commenters on its Product Hunt page. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their questions, after which the app will generate and interpret a specific I Ching reading in response. The launch represents an invitation for anyone curious about I Ching divination but daunted by classical texts to explore this digital platform. Feedback from users, particularly those with experience in reading, is highly appreciated.
