Fire, smoke seen near Aramco facility in Riyadh, says witness
No immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities or Aramco amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis.
A witness reported seeing a large plume of smoke and fire near an Aramco facility in Riyadh on Saturday, according to Reuters. No immediate confirmation or claim of responsibility has been issued by Saudi authorities. Aramco also has not commented on the incident. The fire occurs amidst heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis, who have intensified attacks on Saudi cities and energy infrastructure.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu the previous week. Saudi Arabia stated they had intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis towards Taif and Yanbu, but did not report any damage to Aramco facilities.
