Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of Punjab has been invited to Oman to receive the prestigious UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award 2026. This accolade, considered the highest international honor from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, will be bestowed on World Habitat Day. The award acknowledges the Punjab government’s exemplary "Apni Chat, Apna Ghar" program, which has been voted the top contender among the 200 awards presented by UN-Habitat in its 37-year history.
Previous recipients include the deputy chairman of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority in Pakistan, honored in 2007. This year's honorees also include Myanmar, Brazil, Tunisia, and England. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed that the recognition is a great honor for the homeless citizens of Punjab, praising the "Apni Chat, Apna Ghar" program as the finest low-cost housing initiative in both Pakistan and the world.
