Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 things to know

The Cincinnati Bengals face the Jacksonville Jaguars in an upcoming NFL matchup on Sunday, Oct. 4. Here are five crucial factors to consider:

1. The Bengals' secondary depth is compromised due to injuries, with Jalen Davis on injured reserve, Dax Hill taking over as nickel cornerback, and multiple safety concerns. Key players like Jordan Battle and Kyle Dugger are questionable, while DJ Turner and Dalton Risner's status remains uncertain. The defensive line's Arik Armstead and DaVon Hamilton are also at risk.

2. The Jacksonville Jaguars enter the game with a strong defense that has allowed just 12.0 points per game in their last two wins against Cleveland and New England. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has not beaten the Bengals in three previous meetings and will aim to capitalize on Cincinnati's defensive weaknesses.

3. The Jaguars' offensive lineup, bolstered by returning players from head coach Liam Coen's first season, has shown potential. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to make every throw and utilize his legs with designed runs, while the Jaguars' fast edge defenders and strong backfield can create explosive plays.

4. Cincinnati's running game has been efficient but not explosive, especially given the expectations placed on it this season. They will need to mitigate Jacksonville's strong run defense, which ranks eighth in the NFL and has limited rushing yards for opposing teams.

5. Both teams have experienced offenses that rely heavily on their respective quarterbacks. Cincinnati's offense, led by Deshaun Watson and the quarterback room, will need to adapt to the Jaguars' defense while also taking advantage of any opportunities that arise.
