Airbnb is rolling out artificial intelligence (AI) across the entire reservation process, from finding accommodations to planning trips. The company has introduced several AI tools to streamline the booking and lodging organization for both renters and landlords. These new features will initially be launched in the United States.

The revamped search bar resembles an AI assistant, allowing users to find listings, rooms, or houses, as well as experiences and services by using natural language or conversing with a chatbot. Filters have also evolved, enabling users to instantly discover accommodations with certain amenities, like cribs, play areas, or toys and books, simply by typing "crib."

Additionally, search results will now include AI-generated descriptions summarizing the most relevant features of each property. Users can now compare their favorites in a parallel view, displaying the most important characteristics of multiple options side by side.

Airbnb has also expanded its customer support with an AI-driven chatbot now available in over fifty languages, up from eleven in May. The company plans to add a voice function for phone interactions in the coming months. Hosts will receive new tools, including an AI-driven analysis of income generated, explaining the factors influencing it and suggesting improvements within the dashboard.

They will also find a multibanner calendar for updating prices, availability, cancellation policies, and discounts across all listings simultaneously, along with new interactive 3D plans to help travelers better understand the layout of a lodging before booking.

In February 2025, Airbnb's CEO Brian Chesky acknowledged that it was premature to integrate AI tools like ChatGPT for travel planning, but admitted that this technology would represent a "deep change in the platform." Now, the company is accelerating its AI investment across nearly every stage of the lodging selection and booking process, particularly with the integration of a chatbot in search.

In fact, the company's CEO stated at the Skift Global Forum in September that AI is a cornerstone for the business. Airbnb has announced plans to launch its own AI agent next year, allowing travelers to describe their trip idea, including their preferred area, dates, and the AI will handle the rest. Currently, the company's customer support chatbot resolves nearly 45% of issues without human intervention, reducing customer support costs per reservation by approximately 16% year-over-year.
