Amit Shah to attend Kolkata Durga Puja event on October 10 instead of PM Modi
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on October 3, 2026, that Navpreet Singh, a notorious narco-trafficking kingpin, has been deported from Turkey to India. Shah stated that Singh was extradited due to his involvement in drug trafficking and other criminal activities. The Home Minister highlighted that Singh had obtained Turkish citizenship using the false name Navab Virk and continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan to India.
Shah described this as a "historic milestone of the Modi government," emphasizing that his agencies had uncovered Singh's true identity and deported him. The Minister expressed gratitude to all agencies involved in this operation and announced India's commitment to dismantling narco-cartels before December 2029.
