12-year-old girl rescued from rape in tinted vehicle 3-month pregnant – Police

The Federal Capital Territory Police in Nigeria have reported the rescue of a 12-year-old girl who was being raped by a man while three months pregnant. According to a statement from the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park on October 2 while the officers were on routine patrol.

The officers noticed a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen, registration number KMC567LQ, with its windows up, and suspected foul play due to the vehicle's shaking. Upon approaching the vehicle, they observed Zayyanu Halilu raping the minor girl. Halilu was promptly arrested, and the victim was rescued.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Halilu had lured and sexually abused the underage victim multiple times in the same vehicle, threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the abuse. Medical examination confirmed the victim's pregnancy. She is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while Halilu remains in police custody and will be charged to court following the completion of investigations.
