Why Yankees might be Tarik Skubal's 'fallback' option in free agency

The New York Yankees have emerged as a potential fallback option for starting pitcher Tarik Skubal in free agency, according to MLB insiders. While the Yankees are not considered a top-tier landing spot for Skubal, they may be a realistic option if his preferred teams such as the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers fail to make offers.

ESPN's Kiley McDaniel reported that the Yankees are a fallback option in a poll of MLB insiders, suggesting that they could be a realistic choice for Skubal this offseason. Other teams, including the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and San Diego Padres, are also likely to pursue Skubal, but the Yankees are still seen as a plausible destination for the pitcher.
