UNL: ‘You should keep your promise’ – Belgium coach, Van Bommel slams Jorge Jesus over Ronaldo

Belgium's head coach, Mark van Bommel, has criticized Portugal manager Jorge Jesus following his forward Cristiano Ronaldo's sudden departure from the Portugal national team camp. Ronaldo, who had been left out of the starting lineup in Portugal's match against Norway, left the camp immediately after Jesus's press conference ahead of their UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.

Jesus had informed Ronaldo he would be brought on as a substitute for a 30-minute appearance, but was unable to make good on this promise due to the match circumstances. Ronaldo then flew privately to Madrid following his press conference. Belgium's van Bommel, while questioned about his own practices, stated that if a promise is made, it must be kept as circumstances can be unpredictable.

Ronaldo has since released a statement on social media, hinting at the reasons behind his abrupt exit. He could face disciplinary action from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), which could result in a suspension of up to six months and a fine of up to €1,000 for missing training sessions.
