The Portuguese Football Federation’s disciplinary code permits a six-month suspension for a player who unjustifiably abandons the national team, as reported by the Daily Mail. Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for Portugal, has reportedly left the team's camp due to a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus regarding playing time.
The 41-year-old has been succeeded as team captain by Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes. Rafael Leao, a winger for Galatasaray, also swapped shirts with Ronaldo when Portugal played Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
