October brings a bounty of fresh streaming content to Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, Paramount+, and beyond. A standout addition is "SOULM8TE" (Universal Pictures), available on Hulu starting October 1. This Ben Affleck thriller follows a nerdy scientist who agrees to test a lifelike female sex robot named Sara. As Sara starts killing people, the scientist must shut her down. Though overshadowed by "M3GAN 2.0," "SOULM8TE" offers an intriguing take on sexual dynamics and "trad-wife" discourse in modern society.
Paramount Pictures presents "Psycho" on Netflix on October 1. Alfred Hitchcock's classic tale of Norman Bates and his murderous escapades at the Bates Motel remains a Halloween classic. Hitchcock's masterful direction makes for a thrilling watch, perfect for a cozy movie night.
Guillermo del Toro's Gothic romance "Crimson Peak" (Netflix) also captivates viewers in October. The story revolves around Mia Wasikowska, a young woman who marries a wealthy, mysterious man who brings her to a haunted mansion. With jaw-dropping visuals and an eerie atmosphere, del Toro's film is a treat for horror enthusiasts.
