Telangana tops nation in alcohol use, 44% of men report drinking
Telangana has the highest alcohol consumption rates among large states in India, with nearly 44% of men reporting use. This figure is significantly higher than the national average of about 19%. There is a notable rural-urban divide, as 46.6% of rural men consume alcohol compared to 36.3% in urban areas. Additionally, around 7.1% of women in Telangana also reported alcohol consumption.
