Sindh Provides Education to Nearly 100,000 Out-of-School Children

Since April 2025, Sindh's non-formal education program has brought education to approximately 100,000 children who were previously out of school, according to Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. During a tablet distribution ceremony in Karachi, Shah highlighted that these children were being served through 1,880 non-formal education centers spread across six districts.

The program targets children who cannot attend traditional schools, giving special focus to girls, disadvantaged communities, and those facing difficulties in accessing classrooms. Local communities are playing a crucial role in facilitating the program by bringing educational opportunities closer to these children.

At the event organized by the Directorate of Literacy and Non-Formal Education, 1,000 digital tablets were presented to facilitators. These devices aim to enhance the capabilities of 1,000 centers by facilitating better communication, attendance monitoring, and educational activities. Shah emphasized that these tablets will also assist in teaching support for children in remote areas.

JICA Pakistan's chief adviser for Education and Literacy, Chiho Ohashi, noted that the tablets will enhance access to teaching materials and enable facilitators to conduct more interactive lessons. Additionally, they will support online training and professional development for the educators involved. Abdul Jabbar Mari, the Director of Non-Formal Education, explained that the program's management information system will streamline the timely entry and updating of student and center records. This improvement in record-keeping will bolster monitoring and administrative processes.

The distribution ceremony serves as a testament to Sindh's commitment to providing education to those who were previously deprived of it, ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of knowledge.
