Ryan Hemsworth is preparing to release his new album Numbskull, with strong early returns even before collaborating with high-profile artists like Tegan And Sara, MSPAINT, and Illuminati Hotties. The album features the compelling single "Never Learned" alongside Tegan And Sara, showcasing a hyper-compressed emo/metalcore sound with blast beats that is heavier than anticipated.
Hemsworth expressed his admiration for Tegan And Sara since his seventh-grade years and their ability to capture the essence of emo, folk, and pop in their sound. Initially, Hemsworth did not create the instrumental for Tegan And Sara, but they quickly embraced and contributed to the project. The collaborative process was mutually respectful and professional, with Tegan Quin offering insights into songwriting and her personal growth as a songwriter.
The animated video for "Never Learned," directed by 3DCG and featuring HIRUCHI's art, complements the energetic and heavy tone of the track. Hemsworth shared that the songwriting process provided a unique opportunity for Tegan And Sara to express raw emotions and explore an adolescent phase of their lives. Numbskull is set to drop on October 21st via Topshelf Records.
