Pune: In a surprising turn of events, Elysium emerged victorious in the Threptin Fillies' & Mares' Stakes (Grade III) at Pune Racecourse on Friday. Trained by S.S. Attaollahi and ridden by Akshay Kumar, the outsider displayed a remarkable late surge to claim the win. Elysium, who started off the pace, unleashed a powerful finishing run in the closing stages, catching the leaders inside the final furlong.
The tote favourite, Kavya, who had initially dictated the pace, was eventually overhauled by Elysium in the last 25 metres, securing the win by three-quarters of a length.
