NPP sets up 31 voting centres for national executive elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has arranged 31 voting centers at the Babayara Sports Stadium for its national executive elections, aiming to expedite the voting process and prevent it from extending into the night. With an expected 7,136 delegates participating, the party's Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, announced that 21 centers would oversee the elections for key positions such as chairman, vice chairman, general secretary, organiser, and treasurer.

This move ensures swift voting, with no more than 400 delegates assigned to each center. The remaining 10 centers will handle party wing elections, including five for the youth wing, three for the women’s wing, and two for the Nasara contest. Given the youth wing's eligibility for all delegates under 40, the youth wing's centers will be particularly numerous.

All voting centers will be situated within the Babayara Sports Stadium, managed by Electoral Commission officials. Candidates have also appointed accredited agents to oversee the voting. A simulation exercise at the stadium involving key stakeholders has already been conducted to test the voting process and identify potential issues.

Nimako expressed confidence that these arrangements will ensure a smooth voting process during the NPP's conference elections scheduled for Saturday.
