Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi inaugurated the Rs2.6 billion Ehsaas-e-Bezaban Sehat Gaari program on Thursday. The initiative aims to improve livestock health, enhance farmers' livelihoods and bolster the rural economy. The program comprises 145 mobile veterinary clinics and 27 mobile laboratory testing units, backed by 202 veterinary doctors and assistants.
These mobile clinics will provide essential services including vaccination, diagnosis, treatment, and emergency care at the tehsil level, making animal healthcare more accessible for farmers in remote and underserved regions. The mobile veterinary network will be connected to a central digital dashboard to enhance monitoring, oversight, and operational management.
Additionally, the program includes mobile milk-quality testing laboratories to monitor milk quality and detect adulteration and harmful contaminants promptly. At the ceremony, Afridi emphasized the government's commitment to improving livestock welfare and supporting communities reliant on the sector. He stressed that no farmer should be denied quality veterinary services due to distance, and that safeguarding livestock from disease and negligence is a collective responsibility.
The chief minister highlighted that the program is not merely about treatment but also about strengthening disease prevention and boosting livestock productivity. Livestock remains a crucial income source, nutrition provider, and financial safety net for millions of families across the province, Afridi noted. He added that modern veterinary services are being brought closer to farmers to eliminate the need for long-distance travel for treatment.
The livestock sector is also being modernized to create enhanced income opportunities for farming families. Afridi emphasized that healthy livestock would lead to higher productivity and increased incomes for farming families, stating that the government's goal is to establish a prosperous province with a strong rural economy, healthy livestock, and accessible safe, quality food for people.
