I have been in govt more than Tinubu – Rotimi Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress presidential running mate, asserted that he has been in government longer than President Bola Tinubu during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. The former governor of Rivers State disclosed that he spent 23 years in government, including stints as a governor, speaker, and minister, while President Tinubu has only been a governor and senator for a short duration.

Amaechi highlighted his experience by stating that he served as a governor for eight years and as a speaker for the same period, amounting to 16 years compared to the president's four years as governor and four years as a senator. He also emphasized his eight-year tenure as a minister, making his total government service surpass Tinubu's by nearly another eight years.

Amaechi further noted that a lower fuel price could lead to smuggling, as consumers might seek to purchase the product at a lower cost if it becomes cheaper in Nigeria.
