I am not involved in Black Stars coaching appointment – Kofi Adams

Ghana's Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has firmly stated that he will not address the matter of the Black Stars' head coach appointment or dismissal following the exit of Carlos Queiroz. Queiroz departed the team after a lackluster start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, prompting speculation about a new coach to steer the Black Stars back on track.

The departure of the Portuguese tactician has ignited discussions over who will lead the team as they strive to improve their chances of qualifying for the tournament following defeats against Ivory Coast and The Gambia. Minister Adams, however, clearly delineated his role, asserting that he is not responsible for personnel decisions within the technical staff.

"I don’t hire coaches, and I don’t fire coaches," he confirmed to Joy FM, directing any inquiries regarding Queiroz's dismissal to the appropriate authority. Ghana's performance has fueled increased scrutiny over the team's management; the Black Stars have secured only one win in their last eight matches across all competitions, and they have not won an AFCON qualifying match since September 2023.

Currently, Ghana occupies the bottom spot in Group C without any points, having suffered a 2-0 loss to Ivory Coast and a 4-2 setback to The Gambia after trailing by two goals in Accra. The Black Stars are set to clash with Somalia twice in November at the Accra Sports Stadium as they attempt to rejuvenate their qualification campaign.
