Cement sales in Pakistan rose 7% in September 2026, according to figures from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association. Domestic dispatches increased by 7.35% year-over-year, reaching 3.788 million tons. Exports remained relatively stable at 832,173 tons, unchanged from the previous year. Overall, total cement dispatches rose 5.95% to 4.621 million tons.
The growth was primarily fueled by stronger domestic demand. North-based cement mills saw a 2.43% decrease in total dispatches, down to 3.164 million tons from 3.242 million tons the prior year. In contrast, South-based mills experienced a significant 30.23% increase, dispatching 1.46 million tons, up from 1.12 million tons. Domestic production by North-based mills grew by 4.72% to 3.164 million tons, while South-based mills boosted local output by 22.98% to 624,833 tons.
Importantly, North-based mills did not export any cement in September, unlike the 221,252 tons they exported a year earlier. South-based mills, however, saw a 36.26% surge in exports, reaching 832,173 tons from 610,714 tons.
Looking at the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (FY27), total cement dispatches grew 3.88% to 13.141 million tons, up from 12.651 million tons a year earlier. Domestic dispatches increased by 7.79% to 10.845 million tons, while exports declined by 11.32% to 2.296 million tons. North-based mills recorded domestic dispatches of 8.946 million tons, a 6.80% rise, but exported nothing, marking a 1.02% decrease in total dispatches to 8.946 million tons.
South-based mills, on the other hand, increased their domestic dispatches by 12.71% to 1.899 million tons and saw a 19.15% rise in exports, totaling 2.296 million tons. Their overall dispatches rose 16.15% to 4.195 million tons. A spokesperson for the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association expressed concern over the drop in exports and ongoing energy price instability, urging geopolitical tensions to ease to aid the cement and allied industries' recovery.
