The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad is anticipating a significant revenue of more than Rs. 500 billion from a new commercial project that is set to be developed along G.T. Road. CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf has instructed his teams to expedite the project, which is expected to commence in the near future. The authority plans to develop and sell the project in stages instead of offering the entire stretch at once.
The CDA has been in possession of 3,550 kanals along a 16-kilometer section of G.T. Road since 1967, which forms a 200-foot-wide area on both sides of the road.
With careful planning, the CDA believes that approximately 2,000 kanals could be made available for commercial development. Additionally, the authority has been actively working to reclaim the remaining land from encroachments, having already reclaimed a considerable portion. It is estimated that over 100 permanent buildings currently stand on CDA property in the area.
To oversee the project's design, Director General Spatial Planning Ijaz Ahmad Sheikh has established a four-member committee headed by Deputy Director General Architecture Ali Abdullah.
