Why the Raptors believe Jamal Shead is part of their long‑term plan
He's been one of the NBA's best backup guards since breaking into the league, all while rarely missing a game.
The Toronto Raptors have extended guard Jamal Shead's contract through the 2029-30 season, according to his agent's announcement on X. Shead, acquired from Sacramento in a trade following his second-round selection in the 2024 NBA draft, is entering his third season with the Raptors. Standing out defensively, Shead averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 assists, and 0.9 rebounds in 82 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, appearing in every contest including 12 starts.
