Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards & Chris Finch have one major LaMelo Ball defensive ask
Coach Chris Finch and the Timberwolves led by Anthony Edwards want LaMelo Ball to step up defensively.
Minnesota Timberwolves stars Anthony Edwards and Chris Finch are placing a significant defensive demand on their team's point guard, LaMelo Ball. LaMelo Ball's career defensive rating is 114, with a peak of 118 during his time with the Charlotte Hornets. Given this context, Coach Chris Finch has made it clear that he expects Anthony Edwards to hold LaMelo Ball accountable on defense.
The Timberwolves have consistently ranked high in defensive efficiency, but their system could suffer if Ball's defensive performance falters. Anthony Edwards intends to conserve energy on offense to enhance his defensive coverage execution. He believes that this arrangement will benefit the team through the postseason. While the commitment of both Coach Finch and Edwards to monitor LaMelo Ball’s defensive efforts is essential, the Timberwolves still have the challenge of securing reliable defensive replacements for Jonathan Kuminga and Rudy Gobert.
