Tim Hardaway has criticized the NFL's focus on Taylor Swift during Kansas City Chiefs games. The former NBA star questioned why the television coverage repeatedly highlights Swift and her family, rather than those of other players. The discussion arose after Swift attended Kansas City's first two games of the 2026 season. In the opening matchup against Denver, Swift watched from a suite alongside actor Tom Cruise during the Chiefs' 31-10 victory.
She also attended the September 20 game against Indianapolis, which the Chiefs won 33-30 in overtime. Hardaway specifically mentioned Patrick Mahomes' wife in his comments, highlighting the disparity between the attention given to Swift and other players' families.
