Tigers send John Peck to Arizona Fall League to see what his bat can do

The Detroit Tigers have welcomed shortstop John Peck to the Arizona Fall League, aiming to assess his offensive abilities. Peck, 24, appeared in just 24 games for the Tigers during the 2026 season, batting .168 in 68 at-bats. Speaking to the Free Press on September 27, Peck reflected on his minor league journey, stating, "I learned so much being around these guys," and expressed excitement for the upcoming offseason.

Peck, a seventh-round draft pick, made his MLB debut on August 31. Despite his limited playing time with the Tigers, the team manager, A.J. Hinch, remains confident in Peck's potential. Hinch has consistently emphasized the importance of hitting for Peck, expressing his desire for the ball to be hit to him. The Tigers' decision to send Peck to the Arizona Fall League stems from his inconsistent season, which included limited game appearances across various levels of the minor leagues.

The league kicks off on Friday, October 3, and Peck will join seven other Tigers organization players on the Scottsdale Scorpions. Alongside Peck, the team will also send their top two prospects, high-pursuit shortstops Zyhir Hope and Bryce Rainer.
