Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham sparked further controversy after a heated fan confrontation with Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson during Game 2 of the WNBA Playoffs. On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Cunningham posted a TikTok where she made fun of Wilson, posting the video on X later that day. Her caption read "according to the rule book...." and on-screen text read "IYKYK… yikes."
Cunningham never named Wilson in the post, but her jab alluded to a similar incident in June, when she pointed at DeWanna Bonner for over 20 seconds during a win over Phoenix. The clip quickly gained traction on social media and came just before the deciding Game 3. Cunningham's recent form, including a scoreless night followed by an impressive performance against the Lynx, adds another layer to the situation and could shape the outcome of the series.
Wilson dominated Game 1 with 38 points and 16 rebounds, leading the Aces to a 102-85 victory. Indiana now faces the challenge of slowing down Wilson in Las Vegas, with the series tied 1-1 and a semifinal spot at stake.
