Scottie Scheffler, the top-ranked golfer from the United States, confronted a fan at Medinah Country Club on September 27, 2026, during the Presidents Cup. The incident occurred on the 14th hole when an American spectator shouted "Go Scottie" during the backswing of Colombian player Nico Echavarria. Echavarria, who was leading by three strokes entering the hole, struggled after the interruption, sending his tee shot into the rough and dropping his driver in frustration.
